Congratulations to the 2013 Heather Keith Award Recipient

IMG 1684One special event at our recent annual meeting was the announcement of the Heather Keith Award Winner. The Heather Keith Award is given annually to a Nurse Practitioner who demonstrates excellence. Jeannie Daku from Carlyle Primary Health Center is this year’s winner. Jeannie has a passion for women’s issues and continues to work collaboratively with many different disciplines to further programs supporting women. She has developed programs for her community and her region; her work also expands beyond her own region.

Jeannie represents the best of us both in her community and on the provincial stage through leadership. She has participated in the collaborative for Diabetic Chronic Disease Management and shared her expertise in leadership by speaking at the “Courage to Lead” conference. In addition to her work in Sun Country Health Region, Jeannie has also cared for people in northern nursing stations.

Mentorship is another area where Jeannie excels. She takes nurse practitioner students in clinical placement to teach and share her knowledge. Her friendly positive attitude creates an environment where these students can learn their role. Please join us in congratulating Jeannie on her award.

Other nominees were Kelly Lang from Four Directions Health Center, and Della Magnusson from Westside Community Clinic. Both of these nurse practitioners have demonstrated excellence through their motivation, leadership and commitment. We also congratulate them for their nominations.
