2016 Annual General Meeting

Do you know a nurse practitioner who has made a difference in the quality of health care that patients receive? Or maybe you were mentored  by a nurse practitioner that inspired you as you began your exciting career as a nurse practitioner. The SANP wants to hear about them! Every year we honour nurse practitioners and their dedication to the profession and the clients that they serve.

SANP Leadership Award

Established in 2011, the SANP Leadership Award provides recognition to a peer-nominated member who has demonstrated exceptional leadership to the association and in NP practice.

Award Criteria
Awarded to a RN(NP) who has demonstrated excellence in leadership in nursing.  Leadership is defined as either formal or informal and includes two of the three defining characteristics:

  • Mentoring and empowerment
  • Innovation and change agency
  • Activism

Nomination Checklist
Your submission must include the following information:

  • Two nominators including at least one practicing RN (NP) and their contact information.
  • Nominee information including their contact information.
  •  A one-page letter written by one nominator stating reasons for nominating the individual biographical information on the candidate (such as their nursing education, employment, and career highlights) and examples of how the individual meets or exceeds the specific criteria listed.

Selection Committee

  • The selection committee will review all nominations carefully and it will comprise of three (3) SANP executive members who do not present a conflict of interest.
  • Each nomination will be anonymized before circulation to the selection committee.
  • Each nomination will be rated on each selection criteria. The nominee with the highest ratings will be deemed the successful recipient of the award.

Presentation of Award

  • The SANP office will contact the successful recipient and the nominators regarding the
  • successful nomination.
  • The recipient and a guest will be invited to attend the banquet at the SANP conference on Friday, April 20, 2018 in Regina, SK, where the award will be presented to the recipient.
